Year 6
Home Learning for Thursday 2nd November 2023
All the files you need for these tasks can be found at the bottom of the page.
Reading
Please read the text 'The Case of the Stolen Show' and answer the questions. There is a challenge version of this text if you would prefer to use this. Use the answer sheet to check your work.
If you find this text tricky to read by yourself, try the Electricity text instead.
English
Our topic this half term is 'Only We Can Save the World'. For English today, we would like you to produce a piece of writing of your choice, based on this topic or inspired by one or more of the images below.
You could choose to write:
- A poem about extreme weather, climate change or the negative impact humans can have on the planet
- A description of an under-water city; a plastic-filled ocean; a world which has been untouched by humans
- A speech or letter encouraging people to do something to help protect the world or parts of it (eg. animals, waterways, forests)
- A story set in a world which has been impacted by climate change, extreme weather, littering or plastic pollution
Anything else you can think of along these themes!
We look forward to reading your writing!
Maths
For today's school closure you will have two maths tasks to complete. You can do this by editing the document online, downloading and printing it off or writing your answers out on paper. (We know this may prove difficult as you will have access to different resources at home so please just try your best).
The tasks are based on your geometry learning from last year. This will act as an opportunity for retrieval practice and provide an opportunity to secure the objectives from last year before moving on to this year's geometry objectives.
Task 1: Classify angles
Please watch the following video and complete the corresponding worksheet. (If you cannot edit the worksheet or print it out at home, try your best to write out the answers on a piece of paper).

Task 2: 3D shapes
Please watch the following video and complete the corresponding worksheet. (If you cannot edit the worksheet or print it out at home, try your best to write out the answers on a piece of paper).
