Year 5 Homework- Due Thursday 14th March

Year 5 Homework- Due Thursday 14th March

Date set: Friday 8th March 2019

Date due: Thursday 14th March 2019

Maths

For your homework this week we would like you to complete the fraction maze worksheet given to you by your teacher. Please remember to ask your teacher for help before Thursday if you need to.

Spellings/Handwriting

Please use your handwriting homework book to practise your spellings. Put the short date at the top of the page and then write each of the sentences below in your neatest joined handwriting. When you have finished underline each of your spelling words and double check your work is punctuated and spelt correctly.

Your Spelling Rule

This week’s spellings come from the statutory list of words set up by the government for all children to know by the end of Year 5. They are the yellow words displayed in your classroom. This week’s words have unusual letter combinations. It might help to write the word out and identify the tricky part, then think of a way to remember this.

Your Spelling Words in sentences

  • Some foreign countries have an ancient language that was written thousands of years ago.
  • The symbol of the community centre was an oak tree.

Please learn your spellings ready for a test on Thursday 14th March.

Times tables- TT Rockstars

In school next week you will be practising your 3, 4 and 6 times tables. The main focus is on increasing your mental recall speed for these times tables facts. You can practise at home by logging on to TT Rockstars and earning coins for each times table fact you answer correctly.

Reading

You should ensure you are reading to an adult at home at least 3 times a week and record this in your home school diary. Remember 20 reads = one housepoint!

Home school diaries

Please make sure home school diaries are signed each week. Home school diaries should be in school each day as they are often used to share informal messages and test results will be recorded in them each week.
